Ahead of the next-door Edo gubernatorial election slated for September 19th, the grassroots mobilizer and Convener of Face to Face Movement for the reelection of Governor Obaseki and Shaibu, Comrade Etinosa Odiase, popularly known as ‘Etin-Man/ E- Money’ has warned Edo youths to shun election violence and eschew being used as political thug in the electioneering period.
Comrade Odiase gave the warning in an Interview with *Mega House Tv* earlier today, adding that the warning was prompted by the recent incident which occurred in Urhonigbe South of Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, when some thugs were sent to retrieve Motor circles and sewing machines that was previously given out as constituency project by a certain politician to some few individuals, because they refused to sell their conscience for peanuts at the detriment of the entire people, insisting on supporting Gov. Obaseki.
Comrade Odiase who hails from Urhonigbe Community, further condemned the actions of agents of anti- good governance, adding that politics is not a ‘do or die affair’, as well as craved the indulgence of all and sundry to allow the flow of peaceful coexistence amongst inhabitants of Urhonigbe Community in particular and Edo people in general. in his word,
“I am appealing to the youths being used as thugs to stay away from Urhonigbe south. We are loving and peaceful people. Just Yesterday, thugs were sent to retrieve Motor circles and sewing machines that was given out as constituency project to some few individuals, because they refused to stay in APC, as they preferred the PDP which to them is the path of good governance and societal justice”
He continued, “It is absolutely uncalled for and unacceptable. As one of the lead progressive from Urhonigbe south, I will continuously support and protect our mothers, fathers and my youths in every way I can. Violence is not the way to win election. Funding thugs with buses and cash to intimidate people in urhonigbe south will not be tolerated. Since the first attempt failed and now planning for second time”
“I sincerely appeal for those sponsoring the thugs to have a re think. We are all capable of executing various task. But some of us decided to use the path of peace. Not because we are not capable or ready, but because we believe politics is not win or die, and we are all Orhionmwon sons and daughters. Please let my Urhonigbe people live in peace.”
“Any attempt for the second coming will be resisted just like the first attempt. I won't sit and let my people to be intimidated by anyone. Orhionmwon belongs to us all. Again, my great youth, pls don't be a thug to any politician. Ask them to use their children or brothers. Those who are happy to be political thugs should pls stay away from Urhonigbe south. We will go to any length to defend our peaceful community”
